Michael Buckhoff’s “7 Step System to Pass the TOEFL iBT
Exam!” “Give me a power-packed TOEFL lesson!”

Today, I was challenged to play a game of ping pong by an international student. Having had close to 31 years of experience as a ping pong player, I happily accepted the challenge.
The student served first. His first serve went to the right side, and I tried to return the ball. However, despite holding the racquet correctly, the ball shot sharply to the right even though I was trying to hit it to the left; the ball missed his side of the table by 3 feet. The score was now 1-0. After he finished 5 serves, he was annihilating me 5-0. I became very concerned.
Fortunately, I was able to gain 3 points during my serves. Now the score was 5-3. However, because I was having difficulty adjusting to his highly-skilled spins he was putting on the ball, he beat me that game 11-8.
Then I played him a second game, made some adjustments in how I responded to his quick, high-spinning serves and beat him 11-7.
Like the game of ping pong in which I was defeated 11-8, you will face some tough questions on the TOEFL iBT. Still, if you make the right adjustments during the test and stay positive and undistracted, you do not have to let the TOEFL iBT defeat you.
For example, on TOEFL iBT speaking, integrated tasks 4 (reading, listening, speaking-academic) and 6 (listening, speaking-academic) may very well catch you by surprise, and you may score low on those two speaking tasks. However, if you score high on speaking tasks 1 (personal preference), 2 (paired-choice), 3 (listening, reading, speaking -campus-related), and 5 (listening, speaking-campus-related), you will still be able to have a high score overall.
I can give you the lessons to help you during the test so that you have sound test-taking strategies when taking the listening, reading, speaking, and writing sections of the TOEFL iBT. Like the adjustments I made during my ping pong match, you will also have the tools you need to make adjustments during your TOEFL iBT test-taking experience.
