A student stuck at 24/30 submits a TOEFL integrated speaking task for his speaking mentor.

TOEFLer students,

I have a Voxopop Discussion Group so that my students can have TOEFL iBT speaking practice.  Known in my group with the username Al1234,  Al recently scored 24/30 on the speaking section of the actual TOEFL iBT exam.  His goal, however, is to score 26/30.   Therefore, he posted an integrated speaking task that he wanted me to grade, and that is the feedback that you will see in this video. I am posting this video for several reasons: 1) Learn what linguistic characteristics a student with a speaking score of 24 sounds like, 2) Hear his response, and 3) See what recommendations I give the student to help him improve his academic speaking skills.

Please make a comment below this video if you have questions about how to improve your speaking abilities of American English. Also, if you have reached your goal of getting 26 on the speaking section of the exam, please post your TOEFL speaking preparation tips for other international students.

Respectfully,

Michael Buckhoff, founder, owner, materials writer for “The 7-Step System to Pass the TOEFL iBT”

  1. Hey Michael, it’s Mashaiat. I’m from Bangladesh(ASIA) and I’m hopping to attend a toefl IBT exam in 3 month’s so, I was looking for some online courses and found about your STEALTH program. I’ve seen almost all of your videos and found this program very reliable. I’m very keen to become one of your students so, I tried to subscribe for your program but failed. Because when I went to the Pay Pal site there was no option of my country in the country list so, I can’t use Pay Pal legally from here. So, how can I pay you? Hope you’d be kind enough to help me with this matter.
