One of the first group of students has completed his pre-test for Speak Clearly: The Accent Reduction and Pronunciation Course for Non-Native Speakers of American English

Hello TOEFLers,

A student has completed his intelligibility pre-test for Speak Clearly: The Accent Reduction and Pronunciation Course for Non-Native Speakers of American English.

Based on his results, he needs to focus on seven key areas in vowel and consonant sounds of American English.

Based on the word readings and the interview response questions, his speaking and intelligibility score is 4.1/7.0:

He is a high intermediate speaker of American English….

The student has obvious accent and pronunciation variations, but these do not interfere with understanding and are rarely distracting.

The student uses a variety of grammatical structures with occasional grammatical errors.

The student can respond to questions with sustained and connected discourse.

The student uses varied vocabulary.

Arseniy’s goal is to become a native-speaker of American English, and, with a little hard work, I think he will be able to accomplish his goal.

Keep up the good work Arseniy!
